Spoilers are a controversial feature in the automotive world. On one hand, they are imperative in high-speed road and race vehicles which are the pillars of automotive performance; on the other hand, they represent some of the worst depths of automotive culture, the poser and so-called ‘rice’ crowd. Manufacturers have followed these trends for decades, so who did it best and who did it worst?
Yes, it was FWD but the Ferrari-engined Thema 8.32 had the world’s first electrically retractable spoiler
The Veyron, on the other hand, is an aerodynamic masterpiece of downforce and braking capabilities
So what do you think Oppo?
What are the best/worst/most distinctive rear spoilers in the automotive world?

The WRX STi wing HAS to be somewhere up there but for me personally this was the wing that started it all.
My dad LOVES F40s and the first toy cars I ever had were F40s. Ever since then I was like My future car WILL have a wing on it. And it’s gonna be a HUGE wing.

Airplane wings have nothing on this.

I really like the VW Corrado one. The way the beltline of the car gently curves upwards to a liftback, and ends in that subtle active rear spoiler. I think the curved wing on the MKIV Supra fits perfectly with its swoopy 90's styling. I also really like the subtle wing on the Spirit R FD RX7. The 928S4 also sports a nice one.

I’m partial to a small duck-tail spoiler

The optional one on the Juke S/SV/SL looks very good.

The wing is the body and the body is the wing.

It looks ill fitting to the panel lines and trying to mask a less endowed spoiler attached to the hatch.

Nothing beats a subtle lip spoiler.

Porsche are the king of wacky wings, and while I like a subtle ducktail myself, cars on the other end of the spectrum like the 935 RSR pull it off surprisingly well.

Because you know what a rear engined, rear wheel drive race car needs the most? More weight behind the rear wheels. I kid, I kid...

Alternatively you can do what the Porsche 917 did and substitute the entire rear end for extra spoiler.
